Kill your darlings, live the kitsch. We dance down our creed. There's too many walls 'round here, dreams to come, dreams to come. Wild and untamed blowers, yarning fragile heads. All to make, All to give! Free the music we give.
This is really interesting music! To me this sounds like a contemporary version of 70s British progressive rock of Canterbury type, with elements of Henry Cow, but likewise VdGG or K-group music. Anyway: all comparisons do not really fit well, just listen to this yourself … Jo.Linn
"FLY or DIE LIVE" is an excellent document of a live set by a dynamic and tight collaborative unit who give voice to both the world we live in and the changes that need to be made in that world. An excellent example of improvisational and spontaneous performance where music and mood are all created in the moment. Branch and the band are all tight, all performing at an inspired level.
A really great album that fully demonstrates the skill and talent of an amazing group of artists. rikm
I like free jazz but I'm not familiar with many artists in the genre and Ahmed Abdul-Malik is a refreshing discovery. This jam is wild and all over the place. What I like the most about it is the pianist is not afraid to be brutal with the piano. Most piano playing I have been exposed to potray it as a mild instrument and this release proves how powerful and aggressive piano can be. Now I am off to hunt down and explore Malik's other musical offerings. Nuclear Distortion
